Aerobic Exercise - exercise that increases the need for oxygen

 

Calcium - mineral that gives strength to bones and teeth and has an important role in muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve function

 

Calories - a unit of energy-producing potential equal to this amount of heat that is contained in food and released upon oxidation by the body

 

Carbohydrates - any of a group of organic compounds that includes sugars, starches, celluloses, and gums and serves as a major energy source in the diet of animals

 

Endorphins - hormones that reduce the sensation of pain and affect emotions
 

Exercise - activity that requires physical or mental exertion, especially when performed to develop or maintain fitness

 

Flexible - capable of being bent or flexed

 

Muscles - a tissue composed of fibers capable of contracting to effect bodily movement

 

Nutrients - a source of nourishment, especially a nourishing ingredient in a food

 

Nutrition - the science or study that deals with food and nourishment, especially in humans

 

Portion - a section or quantity within a larger thing; a part of a whole

 

Protein - essential in the diet of animals for growth and for repair of tissues; can be obtained from meat, eggs and milk

 

Serving - an individual quantity of food or drink taken as part of a meal

 

Vitamins - any of various fat-soluble or water-soluble organic substances essential in minute amounts for normal growth and activity of the body and obtained naturally from plant and animal foods 
 

Well-balanced - evenly proportioned, balanced, or regulated
